Rochester, New York has been experiencing some of the worst weather conditions the city has seen in a long time. The Democrat and Chronicle stated on Friday, January 5, that this is the coldest air mass to hit the Rochester region in nearly two years, with temperatures not expected to rise above 2 degrees until mid-morning on Sunday.
The Democrat and Chronicle told us that “the National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow warning for Monroe and surrounding counties continuing through Saturday morning for areas north of Route 104. Some areas along the lake could see as much as 8 to 12 inches of new snow.”
In the subzero temperatures, snow was accumulating extremely quickly, making it very difficult for the plows to come through and do their jobs. This left the roads hazardously slick, making travel very dangerous.
What does this mean for us? Probably a lot of car accidents. Even if you are driving as carefully as possible, motor vehicle accidents still occur. It is important to know your car accident rights. You have resources available, like an auto accident attorney’s office, if you are involved in a personal injury lawsuit from a car accident. Motor vehicle accidents account for 52% of personal injury cases, so you are not alone.
Knowing when to get an attorney for a car accident is the first step. It is critical to call or contact legal representation immediately following a car accident. Due to certain factors like a statute of limitation, it is so important to hire a personal injury lawyer as soon as you can after you’ve been hurt.
There are three different legal principles to consider when filing a personal injury claim.
- Negligence: This occurs when a driver fails to use reasonable care, even if it is an accident.
- Strict Liability: This basically boils down to fault in a motor vehicle crash. If fault is found in the person who hit you, they are liable for your injuries.
- Intentional or Reckless Misconduct: If the injury is a result of intentional and/or malicious action, then you are entitled to pursue a lawsuit for compensation.
If you are on the road and an accident occurs, don’t be scared. Remember your options and contact us for legal representation.
